The collection

Everything your puja shelf needs

Four essentials for daily worship, havan and festive lighting.

Our story

From tradition to worship

Some things in a puja have never needed improving — the smoke of sambrani, the glow of a diya, a havan built on cow dung cakes. Shree Purveda makes these essentials the way they have always been made, and packs them so they are ready the moment you need them.

Everything we make follows the four words on our seal: saral, shuddh, sattvik, shaktishali — simple to use, pure in what goes into it, made for worship, and strong in fragrance and flame.

The ritual

How to use them

Three small rituals, each a minute to set up.

A sambrani cup smouldering on its ceramic holder

Light a sambrani cup

  1. Place a cup on the ceramic holder, on a heat-safe surface.
  2. Light the rim and let the flame catch for a few seconds.
  3. Let the flame settle so the cup smoulders, then carry the holder through your home.

Burn in a ventilated room, on a heat-safe surface, away from children, pets and anything flammable — and never leave a flame or ember unattended.

Questions

Before you order

A small, ready-to-light cup of dhoop. You place it on the ceramic holder that comes in the box, light the rim, and it smoulders on its own — no charcoal needed. Sambrani is traditionally burned during puja and aarti, and to freshen the home.

Place it on a metal or clay plate, add ghee or oil and a cotton wick, and light the wick. Always keep it on a plate and never leave it burning unattended — the diya itself can catch fire once the oil runs low.

They are made of natural cow dung, so once they have cooled you can crumble them into a plant pot or garden soil instead of putting them in the bin.

Havan, pooja and home cleansing. Light one cake in a fireproof burner or havan kund, wait for steady embers, then add ghee, havan samagri, guggal or loban. Each pack has nine cakes, three inches across.

Burn in a well-ventilated room and keep a window open. Any smoke can bother people with breathing conditions, so take extra care around infants, the elderly and anyone with asthma, and keep burning products out of reach of children and pets.
